How we use Personally Identifiable Information
We use PII to operate the Site, to prepare and deliver the insurance quote comparisons you request, to match you with licensed insurance carriers and agencies in your state, and to respond to specific inquiries. We may e-mail Visitors and Authorized Customers about their quote requests or information related to the subject matter of the Site.
By submitting your information, you consent to receive text messages, e-mails, and/or calls (which may be recorded, and may be direct, autodialed, or use prerecorded/artificial voices even if you are on a Do Not Call list) from DiscountAutoRates or our partner licensed insurance carriers, agencies, and their networks of service providers, about your inquiry or the insurance quoting and purchase process. Message and/or data rates may apply. Consent is not a requirement or condition of purchasing any goods or services. You further confirm that submitting your information creates an electronic signature with the same effect as a handwritten signature.
With whom information may be shared
PII about Authorized Customers may be shared with licensed insurance carriers, agencies, and agents so that they can prepare quotes and contact you about coverage you requested. We may share aggregated, non-identifying information about our Visitors with our affiliated agencies and third-party vendors. We also offer the opportunity to opt out of receiving information or being contacted by us or by any agency acting on our behalf.
How information is stored
PII collected by DiscountAutoRates is securely stored and is not accessible to third parties or employees of DiscountAutoRates except for use as indicated above.
Your choices
Visitors and Authorized Customers may opt out of receiving unsolicited communications from us and/or our vendors and affiliated agencies by responding to e-mails as instructed or by contacting us via the Contact page.
Cookies
Cookies are used for a variety of reasons. We use cookies to obtain information about the preferences of our Visitors and the services they select, and for security purposes. We also use login information, including but not limited to IP addresses, ISPs, and browser types, to analyze trends, administer the Site, track user movement and use, and gather broad demographic information.
Partners and service providers
DiscountAutoRates has entered into and will continue to enter into partnerships and other affiliations with a number of vendors, including licensed insurance carriers and agencies. Such vendors may have access to certain PII on a need-to-know basis for evaluating Authorized Customers for service eligibility. Our privacy policy does not cover their collection or use of this information; we encourage you to review their privacy policies. We will disclose PII in order to comply with a court order or subpoena or a request from a law enforcement agency to release information, and when reasonably necessary to protect the safety of our Visitors and Authorized Customers.
Security
All of our employees are familiar with our security policy and practices. The PII of our Visitors and Authorized Customers is only accessible to a limited number of qualified employees. We audit our security systems and processes on a regular basis. Sensitive information sent over the Internet is protected by encryption protocols. While we take commercially reasonable measures to maintain a secure site, electronic communications and databases are subject to errors, tampering, and break-ins, and we cannot guarantee or warrant that such events will not take place; we will not be liable to Visitors or Authorized Customers for any such occurrences.
Correcting, deleting, or deactivating your information
Visitors and Authorized Customers may contact us to update PII about them or to correct any inaccuracies via the Contact page. We also provide a mechanism to delete/deactivate PII from the Site's database. Because of backups and records of deletions, it may be impossible to delete an entry without retaining some residual information. An individual who requests to have PII deactivated will have this information functionally deleted, and we will not sell, transfer, or use PII relating to that individual in any way moving forward.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We will let our Visitors and Authorized Customers know about changes to our privacy policy by posting such changes on the Site. If we change our privacy policy in a manner that might cause disclosure of PII that a Visitor or Authorized Customer has previously requested not be disclosed, we will contact that Visitor or Authorized Customer to allow them to prevent such disclosure.
